Camila Mendoza Closes Out Freshman Year with Top-12 Finishes at 3C2A State Championships for California Community Colleges
Camila, made a powerful statement in her debut season by qualifying for the 3C2A State Championships in not one but two technical field events: the long jump and the high jump.
Representing Southwestern with poise and competitive spirit, Camila earned an 11th-place finish in the long jump, recording a solid mark of 4.99 meters (16ft 4in). She followed that with a 10th-place finish in the high jump with 1.50m (4ft 11in) , showcasing her versatility and consistency across disciplines that demand speed, power, and precision.
This achievement is especially remarkable considering that it's only her first year competing at the collegiate level. While many athletes take a full season or more to adjust to the elevated competition and pressure of state-level meets, Camila proved she belongs among California's best. Her results at the championship meet are not only a testament to her athletic ability but also her dedication, discipline, and the strong foundation she's building for the years ahead.
As her freshman year comes to a close, Camila Mendoza has already made her mark on the collegiate track and field stage. With her debut season now in the books, the future looks bright for this rising star.
