No. 24 Southwestern faces No. 9 Riverside in First Round of So. Cal Regionals
Jaguar men's basketball earned a 2nd consecutive 3C2A tournament bid. Southwestern (15-13) was selected as a 24 seed in the Southern California Regional and travel to No. 9 seed Riverside (17-11) on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. tip off.
Teams have to earn their way into the regional and it is an exciting time for players and coaches. The Jags have a first-round opponent from a solid league that has seven of eight conference members participating in the post season. Southwestern is capable of playing great basketball evidenced by their 12-3 record to close out the regular season. The Jags have clawed back all year, and the more recent version of this team has quietly tightened up and turned itself into a program positioned for an opportunity to demonstrate how far it has come since an early season skid in November and December.
The winner of the Southwestern-Riverside game is in line to face No. 8 West LA (20-8).
